So, what does everybody think about 2017 so far?
OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -

I'm sitting just shy of double where I was this time last year. I'm pretty satisfied yeah.
-
Smokin' so far.
-
It's good for me. A lot better than the previous 2 years. I hope it sustains for the rest of the year.
-
Been a good year thus far (considerably better than last) especially since the beginning of May. I just run my dry van on the I-5 corridor.
This is my second year, so, I think part of it for me is establishing good rapport with the different contacts and really learning the lane and how to maximize my bottom line.
In general, I'm optimistic. -
This has been my first year as an OO.
Started first of the year.
I think I have a real decent shot at grossing 240k this year if I keep on keeping on. I think right now I'm close to $125k on around 70,000 all miles. A hell of a lot of running.
I think after all expenses, which mine are kinda high, I might net $85k before taxes if the rest of the year goes ok.
I think I picked a good time to go into it. Probably I'm spoiled. My boss started and survived as an OO with his own authority in much worse times. He says I have it better than he did, yet I still complain about only grossing $6,000 in a week.
Whatever the rates are, it can almost never be enough for an OO with a brand new truck. This mofo has to get paid off at some point. It's such a monumental risk.
I hope the economy starts growing more consistently. It's hard to say what's gonna happen when everyone is on elogs. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get.
I would recommend that nobody go out and get their own truck right now. Elogs could bankrupt a lot of people. Those without a brain will ruin themselves and the rates even worse than ever before. -
2017 looks great for me on the non-trucking rates...lol
Just spoke with a shop customer of mine (whose a dispatcher). Learned that they pay Landstar $1200 to move 53" loads 200 miles....hmmm.
I wonder if I can get on board and steal that contract from Landstar and start my trucking opportunity @ $5/mile on a part time basis...lol
Im ready to run circles around elog folks...MUUUUUAAAHahahahaha....
I just need to keep this J1587 connection out of DOT's eyeview...

I would not want to be on paper when 95% is on e-logs. Too conspicuous. Maybe It is better to learn how to cheat elogs. I am sure there is a way.
