Undoubtably the new Cascadia looks better than the old one but I am interested in whether or not the differences are only skin deep. If you look at the Freightliner website they want to make you think it’s a whole new truck but I’m skeptical. If you have driven both please give me your impressions. It would be greatly appreciated. Specifically I’m interested in if the ride has improved. We drive team and it was hard to sleep in the older Cascadia while it was going down the road. I’m wondering if they have fixed the ride and made it smoother.

I think big improvement is the putting the new fuse box and stuff in the dash. Plus the inside new dash and lights. If you really want a smooth ride add the air ride steer axle but I hear those are also more work to get the alignment 100% correct. The new fuse box is a big deal and it really not fuse box. Those are the computers that run the entire truck. So getting the SAM box out from under the hood and into the dash I guess is a big deal the say.

Air disc brakes are nice option.

image.jpeg image.jpeg I drove a new one all options about 2 weeks ago. Simply awesome. I mean awesome. No road noise, fit and finish perfect. Love the drivers lounge. I have a 2016 that's on a 3 year lease and the new 2018 is what I am really looking at

That's the tiniest driver's lounge I've ever seen, that seat can barely fit most drivers...... pathetic.

The Volvo 730, 770, 780 and 860 have the best driver's lounge and are also the best team driver truck for comfort and ride.

A Freight-shaker didn't earn it's name decades ago by having a comfortable ride and for its build quality.

That was one of my complaints with the Western Star 5700. The bed was way to narrow for me to get a good nights sleep on. Every time I rolled over I hit the back wall and woke up. I didn’t keep it very long as a company truck.

@scottied67 may be the one to ask about the steer axle air ride. He has it, although it is in the previous generation. He's not a fan of it...

No, it has a full mattress. It has a Murphy bed that flips down from the wall.
