2018 ucr registration delayed

It wasn't awful to fill out. If you use a 3rd party you'll be paying for it. If you click that link I posted, it has an area to get you over to registration.

Yes they pull it up at scales and you get a much bigger fine then if you just pay it. What it's for who knows. Don't ask questions just follow the system. You know the drill.

I am based in ON and I select Maine as my home state for UCR tax. Prices are the same

 

You have nothing in your truck that says you paid it. It will come up every time somebody runs your plate or DOT number though.

I forgot to file one year. Nobody ever stopped me at the scales or anything, but the State caught it when I went to renew my IRP. They told me I needed to get UCR settled before they would issue IRP.

 

During an inspection, NYDOT verbally warned me I didn’t renew a few years ago. I forget the fine Amy he said but I believe it started with a 3

 

Can anybody even tell me what UCR is? I mean, I know what it is, and I've filed it for many years, but what is the reason for it (other than just another way to get more money)? You already have the truck registered through IRP, and you don't even give them any identifying info on the truck in question, you just report how many units you have.

I think it's just a scam to get more money. I'm sure the state of IN gets a decent kickback for managing the program.

IRS wants theirs by way of 2290, and FET if you buy a new truck or trailer (I guess income tax isn't enough to satisfy them).
All the states want to make sure they tax you by way of IRP and IFTA.
UCR wants your money, who knows where that money goes.

I'm actually shocked they don't charge you for your USDOT number.
