Hey guys and girls. I'm in the process of buying new truck. Is there someone really knowledgeable who can tell me if 2019 is worth 50K more. I have an opportunity to buy 2018 vnl 670 for 130K, with only 100K km, or brand new one vnl 760 for 185K. Are there any major mechanical differences between the two? Thanks in advance for your responses. Drive safe.
If they are both the new common rail system then no difference motor wise @KB3MMX might be able to say when the common rail was put into production.
100,000 km is going to take a huge amount off the price. That truck is worth much less than $130k, should be around 100-110. The 760 well specd, brand new should be 155 +/- The 760 cab is significantly nicer than the old 600 series trucks... Many improvements and also much larger inside. The 2018's up should all have the new common rail motor. You can hear the difference in them running... Very very quiet compared to the previous fuel injection system. The pricing of that 760 is absurd, you need to look elsewhere for much better deals in the 150k range my friend !!
KB3MMX thank you for your wisdom. In Canada, Ontario after extra warranty and exchange rate calculated, that's the price for a new 760. It is criminal to charge that much money for a new truck. That is why I've asked if its really worth to spend extra 50K for a new one.
Yes prices keep going higher and higher for trucks... if shipping rates followed they'd be much much higher! I'd value the bigger better cab and also an extra year with 100k more warranty but that's still a huge price difference.
Do they have trucks now ? Last year in August after my bullgear problem i was looking to buy a new truck, they didn't have any available here in Ontario; i found few with Cummins motors in Windsor , but i don't like Cummins. Expressway in Ayr,ON was backordered 6 months, i drove yesterday on 401, all i seen there was some day cabs in 2019 models and older used. A friend of mine is on waiting list since September last year, his truck should arrive in March.
I just went to a dealer in Mississauga and was told that if I wanted to build one im looking at January 2020. I was lucky, someone ordered a truck but his financing failed. Its arriving at the dealer in March.
Bratko,, just a friendly advice, but i wouldn't buy any of this, trucks are bad this days and... too expensive because the exchange rate is bad. I got a new 780 in 2007 for 130k now are 190k. Honestly, I've been doing this for 20 years, got used , but this days the emission and maintenance cost is crazy , you never know how much you are going to have left to pay your bills and enjoy life. I would honestly, get a company truck, paid on incorporated, i used to works for 35- 40 cpm, now most companies are paying well 60-70 cents/mile in Ontario, check kijiji , i doubt you'll take home this kind of money over next 5-6 years working hard paying 185,000+interest+taxes cad + BIG maintenance bills every year for a truck. You'll remember what i said above.
Johny41, I've been doing this 20 years as well and 17 as a broker. It's been working for me so far. If you spend some money for extended warranty and change the truck when it expires, you should be fine. It also depends what kind of money you make. No?
