The recruiter is telling you the truth.
No truck drivers want to make a 100 grand a year
    and be home every night.

They'd rather make 45 grand a year and be
Away from wife and kids for weeks on end.
Take the job, don't listen to all these naysayers.
There just jealous that your going to be
    raking in the big bucks.

Texas_hwy_287, tscottme and sam3106 Thank this.

Even if you only make 75k and home every night you are rocking. Good money and experience. Be glad.

Pro - you can make good money.

    Con- everything else.

Everyone knows about the massive turnover with the big uglies but with driver unload at Werner turnover may be 200% or higher. You match 40,000 pounds of freight moved by hand everyday and worse than that werner a very big very ugly member of the big uglies and no way no how. I did that account. Drove werner 2 months , it was at least 1 month to long.

Dollar store accounts, (Dollar General, Family Dollar, 99 cent stores, whatever their actual name) are the Bermuda Triangle of rookie truck drivers. The stores are not setup to receive 70 foot combination vehicles. They will all be the tightest spot for backing many with cars in the parking lot and blind-side approaches. The recruiter won't know, but ask them how many "oopsies" can I have before I get fired? Rookie truck drivers are given the legal minimum amount of training, most trainers teach them only how to back up straight with 3 city block of clear space in front of the destination location. The trainers will also show students how to avoid ever backing into a parking spot anywhere other than the customer by parking at the fuel pumps and on top of the CAT scale for their 10 hour break.

Dollar store accounts for any and all trucking companies are the positions that are never full. There are so many open driving slots that trucking companies even divert rookies from their OTR divisions to fill them. The pay is poor, you deal with store employees that make DMV clerks look like go-getters. You will back into cars, shopping carts, stores and then be fired. Good luck working for another company when you have 3 months solo experience, 3 accidents, and a termination on your DAC file.

Yes, Unicorn Prostate Examiner. Call your local vet and don't take "unicorns don't exist" for an answer. They are just testing you to see if your REALLY want the job.

Yes, but this is like deciding untrained Explosive Ordinance Disposal rookies are no more at risk than untrained Night Watchmen for a lake. It's the worst backing situation in the industry, with the least trained & inexperienced drivers.

Once again we see a prospect deciding to ignore the warning signs and climb over the 3 layer fence to get into the tiger cage, certain nothing bad will happen because hey just want to pet the big kitty.

Every place has dump truck, waste removal, beverage delivery, ready mix.

You won't sue until you can convince a lawyer to work for free. Good luck with that plan.
