D13 changes fuel maps for optimized fuel economy based on suspension load. So let’s say you are empty it’ll be a dog to save fuel, you get loaded it gets more juice.
For me it became apparent after I had my step deck loaded to 80k lbs gross and I was going thru Yakima in Washington state, than I unloaded a 10k lb partial from the upper deck in Longwiev, WA and I was still pretty much maxed out on the trailer but lot of weight came off the truck. Let me tell you, this thing couldn’t climb up a ramp to get back on interstate now being 10k lb lighter, compared to flying thru mountain pass just hours earlier with full gross. I hate that about this engine but that’s how they are.
