They probably direct funds from 2290 and UCR differently. They don't want to mix them. I am with you 100%, though. It is not even about the money you have to spent as much as about remembering about all this BS.
This is why we are losing our competitive edge. Nobody can make a decision, stick to it and make it work. This has been dragging on for at least three years now. An ex president of Singapore was asked what was one of his countries reasons for success. He said decision making. When they were confronted with an issue to decide on, they were mandated to a 90 day study period. At which point a decision was made, good or bad at least everyone could get on with their lives after that and live with the consequences.
UCR fees are distributed to each state in the program, this is one central payment location so you do not have to pay every state you operate in.
Who knows where all that money goes. Everybody seems to have their hand out wanting a piece of the pie. I bet the state of IN gets a pretty good piece for administering it, why else would they do it? Yes, it was the same thing last year. I want to think it was already into February or so before they got it fixed. I know it caused some problems for people that had their IRP due around the first of the year, because states want proof that your UCR is paid before issuing tags. The UCR delay fouled up the system in some states.
