I just now completed mine. April 1 is the enforcement deadline. The date / time is off though. They said mine was completed on 01/01/2019 at 00:41 local time.
So it would seem, but it did say 'local' time. They have my address, and my time zone. If you're taking my money, I expect you to be able to get the details right. Especially when you're also taking my money to pay the IT specialists that build the site that takes it.
No, and none of my trucks have proof in them. I think they can automatically tell when they run your DOT number and/or registration. I know one year I forgot to file, and they let me know when I tried to renew my IRP. There wasn't any fine or anything, but they wouldn't renew my IRP until I filed my UCR.
The inspector can automatically see if it is paid and valid when they bring up your dot number. Almost like how they can now see medical card validation on your drivers license now. Also you will be put out of service if they deemed it to not be valid at the time of inspection.
No, but I when I first started on my own, at the scales they told me I wasn't registered yet and how to do it. So they have the proof they need already.
I’m still surprised they don’t make you carry proof though. They can tell by your DOT number that you have registration, but you still have to show them your cab card.
I received an email yesterday from state. Motor Carriers, Beginning January 1, 2019, you will be allowed to carry your IRP cab card and IFTA license in an electronic image and paper IRP cab cards and IFTA licenses will no longer be required. All US States and Canadian Provinces will be required to accept electronic images of IRP cab cards and IFTA licenses. For the first year, it is advised that you continue to carry paper credentials. This will provide time for all involved to work out the details of this new program. When stopped by law enforcement, credentials may be shown as an electronic image on a computer, tablet, or smart phone or as a paper copy. Please understand that by choosing to provide credentials by electronic device, an officer or official may need to temporarily take possession of the device to verify the validity of the credential.
