Hello All. Been a long time lurker of this forum over the years. I finally have something that I can't seem to find any answers on and no one else that I know that works on these trucks has dealt with it either.

I have a 2021 HV dump truck that started an alarm today I have never dealt with before. When the truck exceeds 15 MPH, an alarm from the gauge cluster begins sounding that sounds like the electronic version of a hand dinner bell ringing (best way I can describe it). It isn't the normal slower beep for low-air pressure or an engine code. As long as the truck is over 15, it continues to sound. However, once the truck slows down below 10, it stops.

There are no codes or messages on the display. No engine codes and no active codes in DLB when it occurs. I unplugged the back-up alarm and 7 way trailer plug in the rear thinking maybe it was a back-feeding voltage into the reverse circuit or something. These trucks don't have seatbelt sensors or door ajar warnings. The door lights also go out when the doors are closed, which leads me to believe it is seeing that the doors are in fact closed. So even if there was an alarm for door ajar, I would assume since there switch shuts the light off, it knows the door is closed.

No ABS or other codes or warnings. On some of our older Workstars, if the hydraulic dump valve is on, it will set a constant tone. Same for our insta-chains. All of the relevant switches to anything that might set an alarm when moving are turned off. Usually those all go off the instant the truck starts moving, not wait until its at 15.

Anyway, just hoping for at least somewhat of a direction to look in because as of now, I am at a loss.

    Thanks guys

Well I feel stupid now for even starting this thread. But I figured it out.

Being dump trucks, our switch panels up front have a momentary rocker switch to unwind and wind the tarp that covers the bed. For some reason, the switch was stuck in the "wind" position. So when I was going through all of the switches making sure everything was off, I saw that it was down (which is the off position for on/off style switches) and thought "Yep, the tarp is in "wind", like it should be". Not even thinking about the fact that that switch should not be down all the time, only when pressed.

Our body builder has the ESC programmed so that in the event that either tarp wind or unwind is held and the truck exceeds 10 mph, an alarm sounds. It was 10 mph that it started sounding, not 15 like I previously thought.

So yeah. All this for a stuck switch.
