Mine does, and I can think of a dozen more that I know of that do with small/medium size carriers. It's cheaper to get the battery pack than pay for the wear and tear on an engine that idles a lot of the time.

My volvo has 1.397million miles and over 25,000 hrs of idle time and never rebuilt anything...... SOoooo

And a battery AC WILL NOT keep a cab/sleeper cool in the south for 10hr in the summer

Good for you. You're that one in a million Volvo owner. I hope Volvo sent you a box of Swedish meatballs as some kind of prize.

my friends CAT went 1,250k before the head gasket went and he idles as much as I do...

Maybe it has something to do with taking care of your equipment

Idling isn't just about heating or cooling the truck, it is also about keeping the batteries charged.

Some things, like cooking with things that use the inverter, drain the batteries.
Even the bunk heater and a cooler will drain the batteries.
One bad battery in the bank will kill it, and then you need to idle.

I haven't found a workaround to the idle shutoff in my new truck.
In the older Cascadia I could cheat it for 30 minutes, but it is a no-go in this truck.

This truck has some quirks, though.
One is, if it is warm enough to go into long idle mode - it will not shut off when the temp goes below the threshold.
And today it stayed idling even though I was below the required temp to do so.
I won't mention it at my next service, and I hope they don't notice anything amiss.

What can I say, except that the International ProStar/LT electronics have been a bit wonky for at least a decade.

I drive a 2021 t680, the settings are factory pre-set at 40 deg. and 80 deg., it can be adjusted by whoever has the correct software. When we took delivery of ours, my boss set them at 75 deg., after the first night I broiled at 72 deg. without A/C, he lowered the temp to 70 deg., I've asked him to set it lower or turn it off, he mumbled something about it can't be totally turned off.

Last night I spent the night in Grand Junction, Colo., it hit 18, I idled the truck for 2 hours when I parked to build up heat, I dozed off, at 5 am I woke up shivering, in a sleeping bag rated to Zero. I fired up the truck and let it idle for an hour before I shut it off while I went in to take a shower.

That really sucks. I have my bunk heater set at 65 while I'm sleeping. Any warmer and I wake up in a pool of sweat.
