A few customers I deal with still use a the cb while on the yard, and the Pete I got recently needs something that works. It currently has the single antenna behind the cab, which is rather useless, probably the factory wiring. Maybe the proximity to the reefer?
Boss said no drilling holes everywhere, which I was wanting to do to place one on one of the mirror arms as I can't use a bird perch. I've seen a few YT vids, but they usually involve butchering something which I can't do.
Other than maybe somehow elevating/moving the existing antenna and running new coax , am I regulated to using the handheld, which works but just barely?
Looking for ideas as I have none that I can realistically run with atm.

It's a bummer when the boss doesn't care about a cb radio, which at times can be a very valuable tool for the job. Here's some advice that I gave to a driver on another thread.
" About the easiest antenna system is the (NGP) no ground plane antenna. Some guys who tried this antenna claim that their radio basically worked okay. So I would say okay is better than a bad antenna system due to no RF ground".
On a no ground plane antenna the coax is making up the other electrical half of the antenna system. Basically taking place of the lack of a metal ground plane that these new trucks don't have. Some guys do use these NPG antennas. Maybe worth a try. -

I could rig something up behind the cab but space is tight due to policy on running as small a air gap as possible.
