I’ll look on my line sheet tomorrow and see what it lists for power steering equipment........
bigbirdmim Thanks this. -
Your setup with slave cylinder is same as couple of older Pete's we had with 20K steers. Newer ones use KW front suspension with dual boxes. The pump is a higher flow rating for dual gear/assist cylinder set-up's. @Heavyd might know where caster should be set @.
Oxbow, Caterpillar Cowboy, pushbroom and 2 others Thank this. -
My line sheet at the other house.....sorry it’s gonna take me some time to get over there....
Pm me and I’ll give you my last 6 vin number and you can look it up .....bigbirdmim Thanks this. -
Most trucks like the 4 to 6 degrees of caster. If you do more in town work, then less caster would be a bit easier on the steering. Bump steer is caused from either too low or too high of caster. So if the axle looks to be very flat, you have little to no caster and that's a problem.

@bigbirdmim ....
Found the line sheet, it doesn’t say much
HP510 and bigbirdmim Thank this. -
Conversions are fun. They sort out the true parts men and women, from the people that just sit behind the counter and punch numbers into a computer all day.
I'd be looking at getting a cooler for the steering fluid, My dump trucks in this hot summer have even been getting a little cranky on jobsite / in town steering this year as hot as its been. Nothing really converted or beefed up on them, but definitely putting the weight up there using everything to it's full potential.
My lowboy truck's the only ride I've got with a 20k steer, it's got dual boxes and works fine, might be your best bet to add that, but those slave cylinders were around a long time too. There's got to be a spec somewhere for the output of your pump, and requirements of the slave and factory steering box?
Also, not to point out the obvious, but they are the most overlooked filter on a trick IMHO, have you changed the power steering filter lately?bigbirdmim Thanks this. -
Regarding alignment, been a few months and a lot of memory evaporated since I had an axle out of under a truck and went through the aligning process.
Camber's going to be adjusted with the spacer blocks and shim package between the axle and leaf springs.
Swapping axles now might be a good time to get in a good working relationship with a shop with an alignment rack and a good hand on it who cares about his work and reputation. Axle position in relation to camber might be the same, and might not. If I was in your situation the truck would go to the alignment shop, and I'd help out and make as many trips back and forth to the Pete dealer to get him what shims he needed to get it right. -
Just saw that looks like an ID plate in your profile picture, I can't figure out how to send a PM since they changed the forum page website style. Not sure what corner of the state your out of, guessing the panhandle or west side if you're logging on landings, but I have some folks in Eastern Idaho I could definitely recommend if you ever get down this way.
Oxbow and bigbirdmim Thank this.
