He will burn off 20 pounds of fuel pretty quickly, but...
If he moves the tandems forward it will put the trailer overweight, and that won't change until he moves it back again.
If he moves his fifth wheel forward one notch it will just move more weight to the drives, making the drives even more overweight.

He might get nailed for overweight steers, but I ran around there pretty often with a ProStar I once had and was never bothered about it.
More likely to get hit when the drives or tandems are 400 over than the steers.

He doesn't need any more weight on the steers, they're already overweight. I'd just run as is. Truck scales measure in 20lb increments anyway.

If you're cupping your steers it's an alignment or balance issue. Running heavy might exacerbate the issue, but either way it's an issue. My company doesn't charge me for tires but does give me a fuel economy bonus - .2 mpg works out to $1,800 a year in my pockect.

For me, I found that with PrePass if I could run heavy on my steers and stay under 33,500 on the drives I got more green lights. With drivewyze my axle weights don't play into getting pulled in, so who cares.

Well I get green lights every time with the company I'm too, no it's a new truck....but I suppose the the weigh master is as big of an idiot as the most drivers are these days.
