I used expresstucktax.com last year and will again this year. Seemed like the first two times I paid it happened to be on trips to the IRP office where I needed the stamped receipt right away. Both of those times the wait was under an hour while at the IRS office, but doing it all from home was well worth the $35 (2 trucks). IRS is not far, but I'd probably burn $15 fuel in my pickup plus waste 2-3 hours in traffic making the trip. I'd rather do it from my comfy chair at home in a few minutes.

Setting up with EFTPS for electronic payment to IRS makes it go faster, but you can still mail your return with a check after you e-file. The form isn't that hard to fill out, so if you mail it you do lose a lot of the convenience/time benefit of e-filing.

I live in a city with roughly 3 million people. It's still a 30 minute, 20 mile drive if I use toll roads. I'd pay $4 in tolls and $10 in gas, to probably wait in line for an hour. No quick line for 2290's at my office. One year I went early in August and a transformer blew causing the office to close after waiting 30 minutes, and I had to come back the next day. I really like the PDF copy the services email you as well. It saves me a step.

I used there service this year. Very easy and fast. I live 5 miles from the IRS building and I still paid over the internet. I'm the unlucky guy every time I go. It always seems like the person in front of me , always have a stack of papers to go through. Which takes for ever to get to the window. Plus you have to go through metal detectors. For 9.90 I will pay that any day.

The IRS office in Nashville is in a federal bldg and you have to go through a metal detector.
Very humiliating. I used to go there and leave with my stamped 2290.
Nowadays I'd rather not sit in their uncomfortable chairs and watch the overweight, immigrant/ethnic government workers shuffle around like molasses in January and then act like they are doing us a favor when they finally call our number.
I find it easier to pay online using http://www.expresstrucktax.com/

This will be my first time doing. I recently bought my rig and was exempt because I would not have accumulated the miles. I think my first time Im going to lose the $35 bucks and pay $585 to let this lady I know go about it. Hopefully next year and thereafter I will do it myself.

If you don't live near an IRS office you can stop by any of their offices anywhere in the country and pay the 2290.

I could but if I am out of town it's in the big truck and to ME just not worth the hassle. Like I said I'll pay my $10 and be done with it. These guys at greentax are legit and I have had zero problems using them for the last 2 years. Just too easy.

You can get a rig near some IRS offices. I live close to an office so it isn't a problem for me to run in, pay my tax and go about my business. My local office is located in an area where I could easily park my rig, although I usually just drive a 4 wheeler to pay the tax.
