1) Google "2290", and click the first result that pops up....should be a link to the IRS website, pdf, form 2290
2) Fill in the necessary fields (If you have a copy of last years, just copy all of the info from last year's form onto this year's form) and print the form.
3) Sign and date the form, write the check, and put it all in an envelope.
4) Drop it in the mail.
Takes all of 10 minutes. If only the income tax were this easy.![]()

I appreciate the info. I know that I can print the form and mail it. If you mail it in to the IRS it will likely take up to 6 weeks to get a receipt back. If I take it by the local IRS office I can get them to stamp it as soon as I pay them. I have an IRS office about ten minutes from my home. Unless there is a big crowd it is usually not a big problem.

pedigreed bulldog...
i did it that way. could'nt figure out why people would pay $30bucks to do it online.

Well, you CAN take a gun into a federal building. Once.
G/MAN Thanks this. -
You better watch bad mouthing the imperial federal government. That is just the kind of talk that will get you labeled a terrorist and the MP's will be knocking on your door in the middle of the night or they might send a sniper to assasinate you. The Senate passed that law I mentioned in another 2290 thread by a vote of 93-7.

Back to the original topic, you know something, I never really thought of going to Chattanooga. It's just rare for us to hop in the car and ride over that way for much of anything. So much more to do over towards Murfreesboro and Nashville. You're right though, only 65 miles versus 90. -
The way things are going we may not be able to criticize the government without fear of being arrested or worse in another year.
You must not have been to Chattanooga in a while. We have the largest fresh water aquarium in the country, or did. There are a lot of good and unique restaurants and shopping downtown. In fact, the downtown area has been completely renovated in the last 20 years. There are walking and bicycle paths along the river front area. I think we still have the largest shopping mall in the state. We have Riverbend, which is one of the largest street festivals in the country. They bring in some of the biggest names in entertainment and close part of downtown for a week. There are usually about 800,000 people that come from all over the country each year for Riverbend. We also have a lot of history in the area. The second bloodiest battle of the Civil War was fought in chickamauga, just a few miles south of Chattanooga. Then there were the battles of Missionary Ridge, Lookout Mountain and other famous battles. Chattanooga is the home of the first Coca Cola bottling company. We have lots of parks, fishing, hunting, hiking and about anything that you want to do. Chattanooga is mostly surrounded by mountains with the Tennessee river running in between two of the most famous, Lookout Mountain and Signal Mountain. I think that there is more to do in Chattanooga than Nashville and we don't have nearly the traffic congestion. You need to come over and check it out sometime.
Man, I sound like a tourist ad.
scottied67 and san45bar Thank this. -
It is just the first step and shows that your envelope got there. Keep that; it is the same as a receipt from the USPS. You will get one that says paid when that group of folks processes the paperwork ... and takes your money!
