Took the tractor & trailer in for service and annual inspection last week. Told them to put two new tires on the steering axle and a front end alignment. Shop told me they were having a little trouble finding 24.5 tires, rumor is they were going to stop making them. Sure hope that is BS, I've got them on tractor and trailer both.

    Anybody heard this rumor.

Everybody uses 24.5 out here. More common than 22.5.

They seem less common than 22.5 out here but I’m still able to find them

Doesn't seem likely to me. You can get 24.5s around here without any trouble

11R24.5 is the most common size for the oil field down here. Still got plenty of choices in brands. Virgin or recapped.

Sometimes the manufactures put them on “back order” till they can produce more. Been told they produce so many at a time than move on to another size on so on. That makes it hard for some shops to get them at those times. Some shops have a better dealer network than others. That size is still out there.

Depends on what area of the country you're in. I guess.

24's are hard to find in my state. Shouldn't have a problem finding used in the city. Maybe new.
But leave the city and you gotta cross your fingers.

They’re getting hard to find at all the major Truckstops, since Fleets have mostly gone to 22.5s lo pro. They can still be found, but scarce enough to consider carrying a spare steer, for all positions. Or be ready to pay $$$. At the mercy of the Truckstop.
