I once had an inspector outside Dillon, Mt give me a choice. I had stopped in Idaho Falls for my 10 off. I had showered, eaten, etc. and tried to sleep. After about 6 hrs I woke up from a nightmare and couldn't get back to sleep. I had about 2 hrs left, but decided to head up to my customer. Got through the scale in Idaho just fine, but when I hit the scale in Mt., he pulled me in for a paperwork check. Since I knew I was screwed, I decided to be honest with him. He did the math and gave me a choice, I could sit for 2 hrs and twiddle my thumbs or he could write me for the falsified log book, give me a $500 ticket, and place me out of service for 10 hrs. I took the 2hrs and caught up on my reading then hauled ### to my customer. No ticket, nothing.

Yep ... some of those big truck bears are alright. I pulled over before going through a chicken coop to update and a "roving reporter" pulled in behind me, took my log and told me to proceed to the scale house. When I got there he gave me the option of updating in front of him or taking a ticket ... guess what I did!!!
