Ok...I'll start digging. I already have a power filter...and it helps...some. One mistake I made was when the a/c fan motor went out this summer I put in an off brand not knowing the caution from Mack about this issue. The ECM is mounted in the truck on the passenger side and off brand fan motors were affecting it with RF.

I can't use the radio on high fan...can't hear anything but whine. Some guys on here told me to get some ferret beads or something but I don't know what a necklace has to do with RF interference.......( being funny )

I'll try a direct hookup first then a bench check of the radio if it keeps up. They way i feel right now bout the whole thing is I'm liable to toss it and go back to a good 'ole Cobra. This 2950 is not all that by any measure.,......( not being funny )

    I'll let you know wassup......

    Tks....

If your going to toss it I give you the address of my trash can. I did not read the entire thread carefully but it sounds like you started with a butcher job for a convert/tune and hooked it to a bad antenna system. The 2950 is my favorite radio and I never have trouble with one which has been properly aligned and has been untouched as far as the numerous bad mods common out there goes. Or at least put back to stock and properly aligned. Which I have done many times. I would get the antenna system in proper shape and have the radio corrected. Not a chance your Cobra can touch it in talking or receiving once you take care of your troubles. I should add there is no way your radio is factory sealed if you can use it on 11 meters, someone had to plug the pulse generator board in or it would only tune the 10 meter Ham band. For one second each time the radio powers up an input port on the CPU has to see a 3 second train of 1 khz square waves or it defaults to 10 meters only. The factory never ships them with this board plugged in as that would violate its so called 'export' or 'Ham Radio' condition.

Correct it would only do 10 meters if it had not been opened up and converted by someone. However from experience the odds it was then properly aligned are less than winning the Lotto.
