This may address the problem if its driver error:
I let it rev to 15-16 RPM, clutch out of gear. When it gets between 10 and 15 I float into the next gear. Almost always have and always will. I'll only double clutch if its a heavy load taking off from a dead start.

Also updating truck info: Got a Eaton 13 speed. Still trying to adjust to shifting a 13 and not a 10.

    OK...this could be your problem:

That Maxforce engine is a LOW rpm engine...you should not be taking it above 12-13! When you do, it has an over-rev safety cutout, which is why you have no power...you actually aren't in a torque:gear configuration. The safety sensor has blocked out that specific gear, in your case, 2nd. With the Maxforce engine, you need to start rpms below 12...actually 10 is best. Your torque optimum range is between 800-1145...

Had a hell of a time getting our drivers to accept the fact they aren't lugging the engine, and getting them to use the low rpms!

Remember, a 13 is a 9 with top 4 split...most have a little problem not doing that big sweep from 5 to 6 like a 10...just a regular "4 on the floor" pattern.

AH, I see. Used to that high rev CAT I had. Man I miss those 600 horses. That engine was used to my 7 ton foot, gotta remember that. Thanks Otter.
