I can't find the answer to this anywhere. I want to pick up a few hours from a second job (non driving), and I know I have to report those hours, but I can't figure out how. My employer doesn't have any objections, but they're not going to let me use their ELD service. What are my options?

Why does anyone need to know what you're doing on your time off from your driving job?
-
Simple. Potential lawsuit.

He should just keep his mouth shut to his driving employer about his personal life. Problem solved.

I know I could just go dark, but in the event of even a no fault accident, lawyers and safety nerds are going to poke around to find out what all you've been up to the day before. Been there, done that.

So how do you plan to make a full check driving while losing hours due to your second non-driving job?
-
I'm a local driver. I only do 45-50 a week

That makes sense. I'd try to find a driving job that pays better or gets you more OT inatead of trying to juggle two different jobs. I still think you're over thinking this though.
A lawyer has to prove you were fatigued if a serious accident were to occur during your driving shift. They will tear apart your personal life just as much as your legal life.
Trying to pull two jobs isn't going to leave you the hours you need for your driving job. If you're trying to play this by the book you will lose in the long run.Speedy356 and hope not dumb twucker Thank this.
