Another thing to consider is ride height and its effect on access to the bed and fifth wheel or gooseneck hitch. If you're not likely to need 4wd often it might be worth considering if you have to disconnect from your trailer often or load stuff into the bed.

if your not going to have 4wd, then you better be carrying chains if running out west, especially into Colorado. They are starting to really crack down on hotshots and rv transports in the winter not carrying chains and only having 2wd and getting stuck in the mountains.

I have 4wd and I still carry chains. It is required on all commercial vehicles.

As far as I know, FMCSA does NOT require you to carry chains. You should be prepared though. Some states will not let you proceed into areas where chains are required. Here is a link to a PDF that will help:

State laws are the reason I carry chains.

commercial vehicles in Colorado are required to carry chains, they don't differentiate between a Class 8 tractor and a hotshot with the law, they only differentiate as far as enforcement goes.

In this matter (don't wanna start another thread). I'm planning to stay in FL and sometimes SE lower states, no snow. As long as I'm aware of the route I don't think I'd need a 4x4 truck right? I'm about to buy one, 4x2 '08 F350 Dually for a good deal.
I mainly want to make sure, towing capacity wise, that I'd be ok towing a 3-car wedge.

    Thanks in advance.

Two wheel drive should be fine, in my opinion. The F-350 might be on the light side unless you're just hauling subcompacts:)
