I'll use my current company for example..

We are the guys you call when it has to be there, when the mega fleet steering wheel holders can't get the job done in a timely fashion..

We sell service, on time all the time........(ie) we run hard and that will cost you

Let me give you a specific example from when I was leased to a very small outfit in the Syracuse area a few years ago..

Werner came in and under bid us (more than once) on what was once some very well paying freight out of central TN coming back to the Syracuse area....Within usually 2 months max the shipper was asking us if we wanted the freight back because the Weiner drivers were late and unreliable....We were turning those loads overnight and Werner was taking a couple days or longer..

service.......are ya with me now ?? left lane trucks and loose leaf logs..

    the Dawn of time

you make no money sitting there with no freight

cheap freight moves you, gives you money

and it also MOVES you to a place where you might get a better rate and better freight,

so you can sit there and do nothing, or you can move and make money in the hopes that you make money later

its the same theory as going to work and striking a deal with a co-worker to get their shift later, you'd never get that shift if you didn't go to work to begin witn

no, that's because if freight rates go up so do the cost of goods at the store

customers will complain and they'll blame truck drivers, giving us more enemies

They don't want to pay high freight rates because they have to raise the cost of their goods, and that will make their customers mad
