For the sake of discussion lets look at your "logic". If we examined the stagnant rates in the trucking industry over the last 25 years vs. the cost of living increase, we certainly should not have any enemies. If anything we should have friends we dont even know coming out the woodwork, stopping us on the road just to give us a great big hug. Dont see it happening though. Why do you feel our industry should take it on the chin for the rest of the country?

I run mostly into the northeast. I don't leave the house for less than a round trip rate. Only ran one trip this week. To me it's not a big deal, when the freight is moving you roll. As for the cheap freight, why put wear & tear on the truck for little to no profit. That's company driver mentality,I already made my money on the out bound. Every time you load the wagon you take a chance of a claim.

I run into guys all of the time, who load with the same company I load with and they always call it $3.00 plus per mile. But it's like there truck magical appears 200 miles away from the last place they drop off. Then they will tell me deadhead don't count!

Don't listen to all the CB stories and truckstop Heros out there, try and get the rate that works for you. Then you can just smile and laugh when everyone try's to one up you on how much they get for a load.
