If this was not a GLIDER truck to begin with then it's 100% Illegal.
Remember the news article tenement about the guys from PA that are going to jail for this sort of emissions circumventing?
Make ABSOLUTELY sure that this truck is a GLIDER or you'll be buying one huge legal Pandora's box....

The gentlemen from pa you're referencing disabled emissions systems on new trucks by the dozen- which is not the same as swapping a motor out and utilizing a drop in which does not have the emissions disabled. -
Why on Earth would you risk that if you found out the truck isn't a GLIDER but someone's illegal hack job?
I still stand by doing the homework first to see if it's actually a GLIDER before buying the truck.
.AModelCat, Dave_in_AZ and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
Interesting. What branch of the government is imposing jail terms and fines for not having the original engine in a vehicle? And what law do they cite?
If the emissions system has not been disabled; I fail to see how a law is being broken.
From the sound of your argument; you are jumping to several conclusions that have not been laid out in previous posts, Ie hack job.
Engines are swapped in trucks. A fair number of trucks that I've seen. Trucks used to be built to be used and repaired and rebuilt. Sometimes that means a motor is replaced. -
It's not your requirement for the exact same engine, ...only the same emissions year engine. 2010 emissions truck needs to have a EPA 2008+ engine with a DPF.
( You could remove a Detroit and replace with Cummins if it's the same emissions year standards) etc etc..
It's it's a 2010, that truck had a DPF and EGR originally. You can't just go "oh jeez" those are just too problematic so I'll put a older engine in that doesn't have that.... That's why i caution the OP to make sure that he's not buying an Illegal truck....
However.....a GLIDER is exempt from this emissions role...
You cannot take a older emissions engine and put it into a new truck unless it's a GLIDER..... Hence why the libs wanted to shut down the glider emissions loophole.
Don't believe me? Why risk being the next one facing the law just as the guys in PA and plenty of other places have... Don't roll the dice. LOL
Ignorance is not bliss.
That's the mighty EPA.
Yes they do have federal law enforcement power to take your freedom...jail.
In PA the state DEP also can jail you for breaking environmental law.
Anything Summary criminal offense and higher can carry jail time.

Reason for edit: Tone it downBean Jr. Thanks this. -
I have 3:42 gears and they suck. 3:50+ will be much better. I'm running a factory 600hp ISX attached to an Eaton 18 speed. It is a dog, stresses the entire truck when making that initial move. Mucho rowing of the gears going on to get up to speed which takes awhile. And I am not beating on the truck, smooth consistent shifting. I will be swapping mine out next year, the gears for 3:55 or 3:58.

Engine Switching Fact Sheet | US EPA
Essentially they can put any engine in a new truck. The EPA regulations are on the powerplant. But, once an engine has been installed, it's against EPA regs to change the engine to one that does have the same emission controls as the original engine. -

The rule has been there for a couple decades about engine swaps needing to be same year/emissions or newer .. if swapping a older engine it needs to be brought up to the emission standards of the engine it’s replacing .. whether anyone checks depends on if your state does a etest I guess
