This could have been completely avoided, had New Mexico done their job.

You're not wrong. When I took my CDL exam at the local DMV here in Texas I was given the option to select Spanish on the computer. Even being green and trying to obtain a license I saw the hypocrisy in it.

We need a deep dive onto how an illegal who can't speak English or identify road signs was passed for a CDL.

How do you pass a road test when you don't even know what the signs mean while going down the road with a CDL Examiner?

Probably by giving the examiner a couple hundred in cash.

On these kind of deals I know it’s easy to blame the driver, but he was let in illegally, somehow allowed to get a CDL, and work for a company with a bad safety record. The whole system was an accident waiting to happen. The system let this thing happen just as much, if not more, than the driver of that truck in my opinion. As long as they have nothing to lose it will continue. There’s thousands more improperly trained illegals out driving right now.

He was let in legally. He knew exactly how to get in and was successful. Notice that he didn’t fly in on a tourist visa? There’s a good reason why he didn’t because then he wouldn’t have any chance of staying legally. These people aren’t dumb they know how everything works and how to manipulate the system. Once an asylum seeker gets a foot on US soil they, by our constitution are allowed to get a hearing before a judge..sometimes these hearings take forever. Question is, what happened at his hearing?

There was a policy put in place when we had a huge problem with these asylum seekers at the southern border. Simply put, the new policy required them to apply from their home country and would be turned around if they simply showed up. It was a policy that worked but unfortunately someone blinded by hate cancelled that program.
Doesn’t matter what gang leader you endorse, when something works you leave it alone.

Here’s how it works in Florida with the Cubans..
When they show up in rafts or whatever makeshift vessel they need to be grabbed before they get across the high water mark. Once they do they automatically have rights afforded to them by our constitution.

As far as getting a CDL, I wonder if he had one already when he showed up? Not hard to fake a foreign license and a good reason that they should all have to retest by default to see if they actually can handle a semi truck.

On a side note..I’m wondering if the fmcsa actually has produced a uniform ELP exam. Last I heard they were evasive about it being questioned. If there isn’t one yet then it would be wise for states to wait until there is one.

As far as the CDL, the reports(not forums/utube)was he got the CDL in WA through the school that was shut down a while back and then transferred to a CA CDL.
