High blood pressure is a serious issue. As serious as driving fatigued.
My BP is higher on doctor visits than what I test at, with a calibrated machine, at home.
But if you smoke while driving you should smoke while testing. Don't risk my life, my families life or anyone else's with unrealistic test scenarios so you can make your 32 cents per mile.

In my post, of course. It's called illustrating a point.
Smoking is not a red flag for high blood pressure, or you wouldn't be allowed to be retested after telling the doc you smoked before the test in the first place.
In short, quit playing health nazi because you don't know what you're talking about.enicolasy Thanks this. -
Also some companies require that you use their drs for the med exam. My husband's dr has done the schooling for the National registry certification, but hubby has to use the company approved clinic instead for his company.
Also remember the cdl med info will start being sent automatically into the state from the drs office. His last one was still where it had to be faxed or mailed to the cdl unit. Dot will then just pull up the info instead of you having to give them the card. -
Yes. But as you may know if your bp is good but you take meds for it then its a one year max.

I'm not suggesting anything but.....
Is it legal to take some blood pressure medicine before you take a test? -

Was going to CDL training with a company but when I got my physical I was given a 3 month card because my BP was 160/100. The company denied me from coming because they said they don't believe it can be under control in three months even with medicine. I asked if DOT says I can be issued a card and still drive then why is your company not honoring that. I was told because we just don't. Has anyone else dealt with this?
Truckermania Thanks this. -
When I worked for Maverick I got a 3 month card. They let me continue working and I got it taken care of. If I was you I would get your BP acceptable and switch to a different company. I suffer from White coat hypertension and deal with this regularly unfortunately. I can't get on BP meds because I don't really have high BP and a too low blood pressure could be problematic while driving as well. So I have to typically lie down at the Doctors office and relax and eventually after 2-3 readings it is low enough. Hope it works out for you!
