Been looking over my rate of pay and after expenses I can't say it's that great. That's why I have to be based out of my parents' places while driving for a month at a time. I'm just saying that again to really emphasize that you really need to be living cheap.

Now this might work better if someone has their own Van as an owner operator and is getting %100 of what the van makes. But at the rate I'm going it would take a really long time to save up enough money to buy a van.

But for myself I'm in a part of Michigan that has imploded economically. I was tired of driving trucks and had hoped to get a regular job but couldn't make it work so now I'm doing this.

Ford hasn't made a good diesel van since they discontinued the 7.3 diesel . The 6.0 diesel was very unreliable and Ford bought thousands back under the lemon law . After the 6.0 a diesel was unavailable in the E-series . The E series van production is ending , being replaced by a European van . This article says Ford refutes discontinuing the vans . Yes , they are . A cutaway chassis is not a van . I bet the motorhomes are gas powered . http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2011/12/ford-e-series-will-not-be-cancelled-at-least-for-now.html

I used to work for a medical wheelchair transport company some years back and they used E-250 and E-350 and they run nice and smooth.I personally think there better than Dodge vans or Chevy Express, that just me.

Alot of the ambulances have been changed from the Ford because of the engines.

A friend sells them and they are using the chevy modulars and engines.

I remember when Ford discontinued diesels in the E-Series ambulance manufacturers were in a state of panic . http://www.jems.com/article/ambulances/ford-announces-discontinuation
There was a class action suit by 6.0 ambulance owners . http://www.nysvara.org/news/2010/jan/100107d.pdf
Maybe 6.0 RV haulers should contact this attorney . :biggrin_2559:
The 6.0 did not meet 2007 emissions standards but the EPA gave Ford a waiver to allow them to use up 6.0's Ford withheld delivery on during litigation . All Ford gained by putting 6.0's in 2007's was more parties in the class action suit .

There is not enough revenue in vans to provide sufficient income for a driver and owner . Most vans are owner operated . Rates have really gone down the last couple of years .

Yup and go to ebay or the expedited web sites and you'll see hundreds of vans for sale,an't really no money in van.
