    Are the replacement starters new?
Or rebuilt from a trusted local shop?

Both new straight from International. They honored the warranty on the first one but now they see it's a pattern. And of course, a thousand dollars worth of searching for the problem at the dealership turned up nothing. I went through every option I could think of before posting here. I've just never seen starters die so slowly like this.

I’d suspect low voltage causing them to overheat .

How exactly does a starter "die slowly" like this? It's about a 3 month process before it's completely shot. Thank you for your help.

It’s like lifting weights. The first few reps are easy, then it gets harder and harder until failure.

If the only thing you did different was change out the radio then change it back out and see what happens.
