Ah, some things never change. It's called "gaining experience", my friend. We've all been there. Equipment aside, if ONE paycheck ever bounced, the fun stopped there. That's not your fault he hasn't been paid, you did your job. And good companies can't find decent drivers, there's no reason to drive for someone like that. Sadly, that's how these clowns stay in business, while new drivers "gain experience", enough to know they are getting screwed, and the process repeats itself. Tons of driving jobs, especially in Wis. Don't stay another minute, seriously.

####, I never even got a notification that I was tagged in a post...
Ive resigned myself to staying away from very small outfits. I've been with 2 now, both screed me over. Both owe me money. I'm currently with a medium sized outfit of 40 trucks out of ensley Al but I run out of Nashville. I don't know of the legal aspects of not being paid under a 1099, but I know under a W-4, you can get the state labor board involved and that will usually settle things quick. Not in my situation where one guy simply disappeared, and the other has went bankrupt. -
Ugh man, I really cant deal with this retard of a boss anymore though. Not to mention the truck having constant issues. He got This 2010 Prostar off Elk Grove leasing in Elk Grove Village.. It shakes hard when bobtailing I've given up on this issue completely... My first thought was the steer tires being out of balance (They were), did nothing for the shake, then it was the mismached tires, did nothing.. now I'm thinking it could be the shock absorbers? The right side bottoms out really bad on bumps.. I hated putting the truck in the shop for things cause not only did I need to catch a break, and get a good paycheck, but I know this guy needed it too. The tires that were mismatched in size and tread, had to work on getting them replaced, had a bad exhaust leak, took two tries to get that totally fixed. Who knows what else? Come to find out the old man knows nothing about trucking, just decided this was the way he wanted to spend his retirement. Never looked over the truck, or did any research before buying it. I could sell this guy snake oil, and he'd buy it buy the barrel.

I have to agree with "semi."
The first week that you didn't get paid, you should have stopped.
"But Six, the old man said that it would come through and he was promised that he would get his money on this date and whatnot."
What does that have to do with you? The old man should have had enough funds stacked to pay you. Period. If I am supposed to get a check on Friday and on Friday, there is no check, Friday is the last day I drive. By next Friday, I would have another job.
See, now, you're a month in the hole and all of your bills are past due and whatnot and everything's starting to snowball downhill. Your fault. Not the old man's. -
I remember talking to drivers that were in a couple THOUSAND dollars. I said, "how the heck can you get that far behind?" Their response was, "well, he throws me a couple hundred here and there, and he is a nice guy". I thought, a fancy way of getting paid less than minimum wage and you know where nice guys finish,,,Bo Hunt, BigTennOTR, TripleSix and 1 other person Thank this.

Maybe he could put a lean on the truck. For unpaid wages.
Course, if the guy doesn't want his truck back. He could always do the lost title thing too. For abandoned property. And take ownership of the truck. -
Based on this, the truck is likely financed and he is likely behind. Try to find the lien holder and negotiate a finders fee.

That Labor Dept suggestion is awesome! I had an employer who kept my last 2 paychecks and a dog deposit from 6 months ago. For charging me back the deductible on a load that was short. Sealed coming out / sealed coming in, did everything the same way as previous shortages. This time they want to be ########, and I'm not the first they've done it to. Maybe I can collect, I was just taking the loss. Man I wish I would of found this forum 3 years ago!!
BigTennOTR Thanks this. -
I think a forum like this would have helped many. Years ago, it was trial and error. Didn't take long to see a pattern. Once, I had 2 TT jobs in a week. Was no big deal. Try that today.
