I spoke to an HR type from a non-trucking company several months ago about applications. She pointed out there is a difference between accepting an application and actually hiring someone. Their application process is fully computerized. There is no paper of anything being stored. I asked her what will cause an application to be removed from consideration before a human looks at it. She said incomplete or missing information. The software they use looks for gibberish used to add fillers to bypass a page not filled out properly. She said before covid they were getting about 1500 applications a year. They accepted about 75% of those. Then hold them for 6 months. They hire based on the accepted applications not based on the date filled out, but experience and education level. This company she said has about 30 openings a year. When an opening happens they will print out a list of 10 people. They then start to verify education, check references, and speak to past employers. They won't accept an application that does not grant them an OK to do any of that. If they find hyperbolic information they remove the person's application.
To this end, I am amazed at how much information there is today about people. Here is an example. Go to this WEBSITE and type in your name and the state you live in. Next, for you homeowners, go google your address, and see what comes back. I have seen divorce records online. Oh about the NCIC? Do you think that is the only governmental database keeping records? Think again! Heck, there is a video of my daughter and I walking down Broad Street In Richmond Virginia from last year. Taken by a so-called Auditor. We were just walking minding our own business. I only know about it because somebody that knows Keri sent the link to her.
This video is somewhat old, but with all this information collected about us is coming soon.
30,000 Applications per year?
