This thread is another example of people over analyzing the simplest things and causing confusion or making it worse than it seems.
-
Well, forget about home time then. Off duty has nothing to do with whether you're in the truck or not.
-
Try to follow the thread please, you can't jump in at the last comment and assume you know what's being discussed. It was talk about going off-duty while in a dock, NOT at home.

I think this thread shows the lack of comprehension to the rules that have been out there since December 2011.
I think it is more of denial and there will be many surprised and fined drivers.
But, like they say, you can take a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink.RickG, airforcetoo and Sublime Thank this. -
Per the regulation, you may drive only if 8 hours or less have passed since the last 30 minute off duty break.... Example: Driver goes on duty at 7 AM
Completes PTI by 7:30 AM
Drives for 2 hours
Takes 30 minute off duty break (late breakfast, restroom, shower, etc...)
Driver can still drive for 9 more hours
But (per regulation) can only drive 8 more hours
Then must take another 30 minute off duty break before he/she can drive that last hour. -
No I understand what you're saying, but I was listening to that guy from the Small Trucking Assoc and he said you can actually get out of your truck while they are loading/unloading you,and walk over to Burger King to do your 30 min break. Because someone called in and he was there to answer everyone's questions. So again...it's vague if everyone has different interpretations of the same rule.
I personally could care less bc I plan to take the 30 as I'm told and ENJOY EVERY ##### MINUTE OF IT!!! Lol
-
He is right. That is a qualified break of the 30 minute. Then the next period of 8 hours becomes the point from there. Depending on the time it was taken, it could lead to another break. -
Well ALLL I gotta say is,I'll have to drive barefooted,so I can keep count!! Bahahahaha
-
And what does that have to do with being in the truck or not? Being in a dock doesn't even have anything to do with it. Are you supervising the loading? No? Are you sitting in the break room at some place that doesn't allow you to be in the truck while loading watching Judge Judy? Then you're probably not on duty, are you. Just a wild guess.
