That must have been a conviction, I had 3, 25 to 29 years ago but got deferred adjudication on them and even Canadian Immigration couldn't see them.

Do you have any trouble with them job hunting?

You can usually tell just by the apps what a company is willing to accept. When they state it as "have you ever" as to more common " have you blah blah blah within the last 5/10 years"

It wasn't until like 1982 until they started computerizing. I'm not even sure it would show up on a background check. You can run a background check on yourself online.

But that old shouldn't bother you.

The Interweb really needs a sarcasm font, I get in trouble with that too.

Have you got a FMCSA statute # for Canadians hauling point to point in the states?

If you want to knock the Canadians to border only freight, should US drivers be restricted the same? I cross the border at least 3 times a month and it looks to me like more US carriers are going into Canada than Canadian carriers.
The....well....most Canadian drivers, leaving out a lot of New Canadians, read and speak English very fluently and the vast majority have good to very nice equipment .

From what I've seen of Mexican trucks at that border, even leaving out the drugs, corruption and immigration problem...that's a different story

Ha ha, well I'm not a complete muppet, I got the sarcasm, what I didn't get was the point you were trying to make with the sarcasm. Thanks for explaining further...though I thought cabotage was illegal?

Have you looked into having it taken off your record. Try contacting the state DMV and see if it is possible. I know it can be done in Ca.

You are right that Canada at the border will consider a person "Deemed Rehab'd" for 1 DUI after ten years. After 5 years a person can go through the process "Application for Criminal Rehabitation".

2 or more DUI's and you cannot be considered "Deemed Rehab'd" at he border ever and must go through the process for "Application for Criminal Rehabilitation" after 5 years of the last one. If it's approved, then you are all good to go. The process can take 6-18 months. Right now the Consulate in Detriot has the fastest turn around.
