That's one angle. Another angle is like where I am, I've burned through 70 hours in 6 days quite often, just to make the appointments in opposite coasts. Do this and you're more or less forced to take a reset.

But if you're doing regional, this scenario is never going to happen.

What if a driver has 45 minutes left on their 70 and gain zero hours on the next day. Should that driver take a reset?

That's kind of a trick question and gets back to my earlier point but on the flip side, reset or not, beginning day after tomorrow, that driver probably has some serious hours coming over the next 5-6 days to pretty much run any way they choose to or need to. (Unless they have a LOT of On Duty time lumped in here or there)

While the DOT requires you to be relieve of all responsibility in order to take a reset (34). In reality the trucking company will blame you for anything that happens to their truck or it's assets.

If something happens to a truck or load you best believe no one in the front office will accept responsibility in any form and the driver is always handy to blame.

Not nessesarally, I often book a load at the end of my hrs/ pay period that has time for a reset on it.

I always opp for the reset then you don't have to sweat your hours .
But if I'm in this stitsuation with a zero coming but 10' s an 11's for the next three or four days I'll do a 24 instead of a 34, well if there's good paying loads 9n the board that is. Lol

You can do whatever you want , just remember that load is your responsibility.

Company clown here. Run around 5 days a week, pull resets on weekends, run regional. And STILL make the Mo-nay!

    Different folks, different situations.

I drive max hours, always deliver early, and on Fridays do a reset by Monday’s delivery. I get more miles this way than running recap. I enjoy my resets too.

    WRONG.
I basically work only 2 states and can easy run all my hours out in 5 to 6 days. I just choose not to.
