The reset is 34hrs not 32hrs. I assume it was a typo on your end.
I guess it depends on the scenario. If you sitting on the side of the road and dealing with things I would log on-duty not driving. If you are in the shop I would show it as off duty. If you should be broken down for a longer period of time you will end up in a hotel anyways and you can log that as off-duty time and get a 34hr reset if you can fulfill all the criteria.

Ha you beat me to the punch, but nice job in calling him on that. But you'd be amazed how many folks get that wrong. Even our logging dept insisted that the 34 hr restart occurs every 7 days. Sometimes you just want to scream at the ignorance of some

The 60/7 day or 70/8 day rule really has nothing to do with the 34 hr restart. Yes it's every 168 hrs but you start it from the beginning of the last 34 hr start. In other words, the 168 hrs includes the 34 hrs that you've just done twiddling your thumbs by not driving. Yes, it can fool many but once you get used to it, you have no problem figuring it out.
Good luck.dgc Thanks this.
