    Your instant idle bump is because oil pressure hasn't reached through the hydraulic governor system on the back end of the pump, yet. My advice would be find an old Cat man, there are lots of tricks and assembly procedures that would get confusing over a forum.

    Ok, been looking around for awhile now. Guy that does my work is excellent but he's more of a "keep it stock guy". If I new what to tell him he would probably do it. Also, is there a way to tell if this motor is the original?

    Well Foley Cat says they don't meter time these...just pin time and check advance. I can do that so any info on if a guy can bump timing a little using mechanical methods? Will throw a post up on dieselgarage also I guess.
