Just curious as to what the "average" cost of a complete major inframe overhaul is costing in different regions these days. I have to do mine and I find there's a substantial differential in pricing from one area of the country to the next for the same, exact results.

A platinum kit basically...a reman head, cylinder kits x 6, gasket sets, new oil pump (do not need a new water pump, I put one on a week ago,) and in addition to the rebuild...cutting counterbores and re-sealing the front cover (structure) as it's leaking and want to get that cleaned up.

Again, it's a 3406B 7FB series...wondering about what this would all cost from different vendors. Thanks.

I priced the kit here in Vegas but it was for an E model. Kit alone was 19K ~7200 of that was core charge. To have someone do it was 31k.

I really don’t remember. About 5 years ago I did a 7fb with ipd cylinder packs , clevite bearings, cat gaskets and intermediate plate, and sent the head out to be reworked. I’m thinking ~$7200 in parts. But I’m not a 100% on that. Just seems to be the number in my head

Abilene Texas is about 20% less expensive than Vegas.

I have a 5YG. At peterbilt of little rock cylinder packs are 500 each. Rod bearings 55.00 mains were 78.00 each head set and 2 oil pan gaskets 748.00 had my nozzles done at Arkansas fuel injection for 58.00 each. They say a kit isn't offered any more. I went CAT because I am not crazy about the top seal on IPD liners. I have pulled very few out that weren't distorted and scary looking

E's a whole different animal altogether. They start getting pricey to rebuild. I remember back in the early 90's...$7,500.00 got me a complete out-of-frame major with a NEW crank, boiled out block on one of my lemon 3406B's...that still felt like 75 million back then.

    Oxbow and A5¢ Thank this.
