i run a spinner II oil filter system and i go 40k between changes on my C model mechanical pump model. power is easy to increase if you feel the need as well as advancing the timing just a hair to help.

Don't waste your money adding stuff to your fuel, your truck will run fine and with no problems with the new fuel. As for the bearings, for peace of mind, I understand why you did them, but it probably didn't need it unless your putting out over 650whp.
I guess I ought to start looking for a dampner. Mines got over a million miles on it and has been thru one motor lockup.
If you want a better turbo, go with a Borg Warner 199119.
There are alot of tricks, that are easy to do, to get good HP out of the mechanicals.dairyman Thanks this. -
Does your oil start to stink after about 20k miles? My dad has a spinner II on his E model and it does. What kind of oil are you running?
-
great info folks, thanks. just keep 'er coming,i hadn't checked in for a day or so. les2, did you replace your turbo after it let go or just wanted to upgrade to Borg Warner 199119 ?
-
My Cat turbo didn't completely let go but was shot so thats why I replaced it. It made a big difference in turbo temps.

Did it Improve your fuel milage ?? or change the power curve
And on the long oil change intervals Google , aglomerants , I think the spelling is correct it's the additive in oil that keeps "dirt" in suspension, when it breaks down crud gets left in the engine not the filters. -
I don't remember its been a long time since I put it on. So if the fuel mileage did change, it wasn't enough to make me remember...

The power curve was a much wider range. I could lug the truck down to 12-1300rpm's and not over heat the turbo. At the most I could only heat the turbo up to 1000* and that was lugging it down to 1200 rpm on a very hot/muggy day with an older air filter.
Dairyman, you know the covington hill on 71/75 I would assume. When the truck was running at its best with a new 5 core radiator and the BW turbo I could hit the bottom of that hill at 62mph and top it at 55mph loaded at 80k gross in the middle of summer. That should give you an idea of what you can get out of one of these motors. -

Right now my truck isn't running right. I've lost about 10lbs of boost. I've also put bigger injectors in the truck. Right now running on flat ground it runs about 3-400* and on a long hard pull it will get up to 6-700*. Thats with the outside air temps around 20*.
dairyman Thanks this. -
[/QUOTE] yeah les2,i know about covington hill,i run into lawrenceburg,in. and pick up ddg at seegrem's for local feed mill i haul for in danville. thats impressive to just lose 7mph loaded on that hill. i just turned the screws 3 times on mine, but i figured that the o'l b's had a good reputation after i got mine and the drivers at the grain elevators would raise their eyebrows when they ask me what i wus runnin, and i would tell them 3406b.i know there is a lot of folks like you that can make e'm really run. i am still learning what it likes, and i know if i let her breathe, she will flat out run. i pull a hopper with mine and every now and again i'll be a tad heavy

,so it is nice to have the hp there if i need e'm,but i try to run 'er easy most of the time, the 1 thing i know with mine is i HAVE to let 'er BREATHE.
.is that the norm for the b model?
