The more air the better! Mines in a FLD120 so I only have one air intake.
I've had alot of help from Tony Welch. He helped me go thru my fuel pump over the phone. Alot of us are O/O's who got tired of paying other people to do stuff we are able to do so we just started trying things, talking to others and thats pretty much how we learn different stuff. <<Thats how it was for me anyway. It doesn't hurt to havea manual for your engine either.
And for the record.... I most certainly don't know alot of stuff about Cats, I just know enough to get by, or get in trouble...LOL. Whichever way you want to look at it.

My 3406b milage is HIGH!!! the odo stopped spinnin at 1.5mil miles FOUR YEARS AGO!!..............all i did on the engine is a major overhaul(turbo, pistons, crank, cam, fuel pump, water pump) 2yrs ago. to keep it cool i run a secondary radiator on the chassis ............ i also throw a gallon of chevron automatic transmission fluid in the tank # every other fill up(it work cuz my tanks are clean and i have never touched the injectors!).........o yea just for reference ive turned up my fuel to get more than the 425hp(it runs better than my 500C-15 pulling 80 000lb of sand)............not very fuel efficient though 4-4.5mpg(4.8 on a WONDERFUL DAY)...........Hope i helped!!!
dairyman Thanks this. -
no my oil doesn't smell. i run rotella t in that truck.
Les2 Thanks this. -
did u say a gallon of tranny fluid? that's not too much oil additive for the ration? i do 1qt per tank # every fill up. has anyone seen improvement with lucas products? if so what improvements have you seen?
-
sandman1976,yeah i use 1 gallon/220,but from what everyone says, thats double the amount needed,so you are probaby better off with your 2qt/220gal.ratio. I have not had a problem with carbon build-up yet though, but it could become a problem i guess. We have 5 farm tractors and this new low sulfur farm diesle has me a little nervous, our local John Deere dealer has replaced a bunch of pumps in the last 6 years and the mech.said the pumps look like they have had sand run through 'em,so thats why i run the extra tranny fluid, but it's probably not needed. As far as the Lucas goes,i did not see any improvement with mine compared to tranny fluid and i tried it for 6 months, but some folks swear by it. I guess the old saying stands true for me''if it ain't broke, don't fix it''
. I do use the Lucas oil treatment though,1 gal. every oil change.I have done that since i got the truck because the previous owner said he had used it since he bought it new.

i've been trying to find out info about the new brand they sell # the Speedco,it's called Motorkote.it cost $90/gal,but u onlyu use half now and half after 5 oil changes.i'm also going to try their fuel treatment,it's 1x bottle every 10k miles.
-
let me know how you like 'em both,i have not heard of Motorkote but update me as to how you like it if you don't care, thanks
