I usually view all this on my phone so miss stuff to @SAR! You have the 4w-5305 crossover. No adapter should be needed.

Y'all are awesome! I really appreciate it. We've only ever ran 855 Cummins till we recently bought this truck. I'm slowly learning CAT. Surely I could get a hydraulic hose shop to make me a braided oil line cheaper than cat?

It needs to be married to the small block that bolts to the turbo. It might not be terribly expensive at Cat.

    SAR and 704mover Thank this.

The line is inexpensive. E-model cat. Hardest thing is finding a parts guy that knows what your talking about. They are like robots, if it doesn’t come up on their computer screen they are lost. The braided line will screw directly into the block fitting.

Need to find a real good parts guy. E model will have different flex hoses because of high mount, mid mount, vs low mount turbo and with or without brakesaver. May have to get more than one and return wrong ones.

Finallyot that new 177148 turbo on today. Took about three hours. Like y'all said I cut and spliced the oil return with rubber hose. After heating and bending on the oil supply for an hour, I went to the parts house and got a braided hose made. I cut the two bolt block off of the steel line and attached it to the braided hose with a compression fitting. Works like a champ. The turbo took care of almost all of my black smoke when shifting gears. You can definitely hear it whistle now. Bobtailing I'm only seeing 20# of boost. Will that go up when I put my loaded trailer behind it pulling hard? I used to see 27# pulling before. Thanks for all the information fellows.

Also, if I'm gonna turn the fuel/torque screws. Is there a way to see if it's still stock , like run them in and count turns back out? Keep them the same right?

Depending on ambient temperature I get between 24 -30 pounds of boost. If I remember correctly I cut the spot weld on the linkage and adjusted the slack out of the wastegate (made rod shorter), that may have added a couple pounds of boost.

    SAR Thanks this.
