Hey guys I got a 3406c mechanical. For some reason on angles forward or backward when I clutch in or shift out it’s idling rough. We put a vacuum guage on it and no leaks. We then put a fuel pressure gauge on and it’s low. 10 psi only at idle and low in power. When it’s idling rough if I give it some fuel it cleans up or if it goes back into a pull it cleans up but does seem a touch low on boost. Thinking it’s the lift pump or maybe the hand primer valve. What’s your guys opinion. Filters only have 150 hrs on them.

In my opinion first I would change the filters and cut them open and inspect.
Next I would put a reseal kit into the primer pump or replace it.
Next I would consider changing the fuel lines if they are more than 10 years old because they may have internally deteriorated.
Then I would rebuild the lift pump.BoxCarKidd, Oxbow, Diesel Dave and 1 other person Thank this. -
Fuel lines all knew two years ago no air leaks. It did this before last oil change and new filters witn less than 200hrs are on.

I would change the filters anyways, you could have got some dirty/bad fuel.
You could also be contaminating your fuel in the return line, oil or coolant can get into the return through a bad injector or injector cup. This is a slight chance but a filter inspection can eliminate it.
Also check your fuel tanks for fungus/microbial contamination.little cat 500 and BoxCarKidd Thank this.
