What do you mean? Is something wrong with it or the way the truck is running? Or do you want to know the current settings?

It all started when my engine fan would not turn on automaticlly. I could overide it with the manual switch. I was in the dash checking fuses and relays for the fan.

The engine power relay had power with the key off on terminal 30, power with the key on on #86.

Breaksaver relay - no power with key off or on.

Engine fan relay - #30 power with key on when manual switch up, no power with manual switch down.

fuse 15 amp - power with key on

fuse 10 amp - power with key on

fuse 10 amp - no power with key on, power with overide switch on

fuse 10 amp - no power with key on, power with overide switch on

While testing these things I blew a relay for the dash lights. I replaced it, now the truck turns over but won't start. The relays and fuses I checked now have different readings.

Engine power relay - no power

    Breaksaver relay - no power

Engine fan relay - power to terminal 85 with key on.

no power to the fuses - with a test light some of the fuses have a very faint light.

So I'm thinking something may have happened to the ECM, and I would like to know if I can check it somehow to make sure that's what is causing my problems now.

    Thanks for the help.

There is a big circuit breaker and a relay behind the panel that has the tachometer and speedometer. All the power coming into the cab goes through them. Check there first, it is usually the relay, but with your short, who knows what happened.

    Cindy Thanks this.

I'm not positive about this, but I believe the earlier Pete's with a CAT engine have a fuse in the dash that powers the ECM. It sounds like you don't have a 12 volt power source to the ECM. Also Pete's have a 150 Amp circuit breaker mounted inside the left frame rail above the starter that feeds power to the fuse box inside the cab. Since you aren't getting enough power to light your test light in the fuse box this is probably bad.

Thanks I appreciate the come back. I was checking all the grounds, I cleaned them really good. And the truck started up. I really don't know what happened. I know grounds are the key to it, I was inside the dash and I don't know if I could have done something to the ground. I was using a power probe that I just bought, so it's new to me.

    Thanks

Mr. Haney what kind of upgrades can I have done to my ECM, more power, more pull? I have a 98 pete with a 3406E cat serial # 6TS16859 i have had the truck for 5 yrs so I don't know if anything has been done to it. I still think the ECM may not be working my fan correctly. I don't know what any of my paramerters are set at. Could you PM me with your contact info.

    Thanks

This engine left the factory as a 475. Cat is showing that it was re-rated, but isn't showing what it was re-rated to. I'm going to assume it is a 550. How much power do you want? 750 Hp wouldn't be a problem with an ECM flash, but the turbo isn't going to handle that much fuel for any length of time.

    I'll send you a PM
