Hi,
I have a Cat 3406E with serial # 5EK54652. Anyone knows what it is rated for? Is it safe to add boost/temp wires to it?

Yeah you aren't going to hurt anything adding boost and fuel wire. Boost wire will give a little faster spool on the turbo and also a little black smoke. Fuel helps HP a little until actual fuel temp reaches a certain point then it does nothing

 

Can someone please give .e information on my serial number? I'm look to see if its 455hp?

We bought a 375 horse 5ek. The truck is a 96 model and has 560000 miles on it. It was filled up with gas so the motor was rebuilt by cat in California. What is the likely hood they put better pistons in when they rebuilt it. I'm in Georgia and going to call and find out tomorrow. I had no idea about these pistons. I had a guy out today to turn it to 550 and he said 410 is all he was comfortable doing.
