I believe he is swapping to 8502/58/24 (3.07kg/min) injectors and 1708232 file.

    ill report back

and yes it was just overhauled and has IPS 16:1 mono pistons now

Well I threw in the cam that all dealers told me not to. Guess what? It works
Flashed to a 550hp file and got the new cam timed to the ecm and it runs like a beast

He swapped to 8502 injectors and the appropriate 5EK pre low NoX file. No difference. Still the same symptoms.

Has noticed about 1mm roughly less rack commanded with this than with the 70pin 6NZ C15 he has to compare with.

Only way to get this thing up on boost and moving is by using a hot trim codes or turning the injectors up to flow around 10-12% more than they’re supposed to.

Anyone have any idea on the quantity of fuel or power 1mm of rack supplies

His rated fuel limit is about 11mm and his rack is 10.9mm. So that’s all the ECM will ever ask for

It made 464rwhp with the original miss match he had.

With the hot trims it makes 35psi boost.

A C15 with that turbo 70pin makes 40psi standard fueling

    Oxbow Thanks this.

What FTS/FLS #? Have you put 5DS file in it? 464 RWHP is pretty close to 550 flywheel HP.

    Oxbow and SAR Thank this.

1 and -14 is how it left with standard flowing trims for 8502 inj.

We tried 74 and -19 and 6999 trims and it was much angrier. But still only made 35psi.

It all came about because the owner has to drop half a gear up a Hill his neighbor with a C15 goes over on top.

I agree 464 at 20% DT loss is bang on.

However that turbo will make 40psi on a standard C15. On this engine it’s only making 32psi without hot trims

I’m not sure what file is in it but it’s definitely at 5EK 550 file pre clean power.

    I don’t believe he’s tried a 5DS file

What flash file is guy with 70 pin running? If looking @ most Cat performance spec sheets, a 550 5EK vs a 550 6NZ, a the 6NZ pushes 2 more pounds of boost and the response time is 0 sec, where a 5EK spec is 3.3 sec. The 5EK achieves more fueling with more injector flow(58's), where 6NZ does it with longer PW. The better and quicker ECM processor in the 70 pin just does a better job of reacting to load changes and fueling demands in my opinion.

I’m running a 550 Brakesaver file on my 5EK with 58’s. File 1708227 . With. BW stage 1 turbo. Will do up 40 psi if I let it. But that will create to much intake heat if you hold it to long. I will hold it about 36psi on a long pull if that.

Wouldn't the wastegate dictate maximum boost? Having said that, we get some fluctuation of boost relative to ambient temperature on wastegated turbos.
I really shouldn't have commented here as you all are talking way above my experience level, but I thought that I would throw that out there.

The turbo there talking about has no waste gate. So fueling is the factor on boost there. Your still correct thou oxbow.

Thanks Swaan; my 6NZ does have a wastegated turbo. It is stock and 475 though.
I guess it was kind of a stupid question, but at least I learned something!
