3406e CAT issue/question

one more thing check and see if someone messed with the sensers. if its a 2ws serial# e-model it has 2 timing sensers one on the cam and one on the crank. the crank senser will be under the air comppreser on the block toward the bottom.if this dont solve the problem i still would say an injector acting up.

 

it could but i doubt it. like i said i have had the timing off before like that didnt notice any thing untill the check engine light came on. but different serial# act different ways.

 

After mine was inframed the cam timing gear was installed one tooth off and had the exact same symptoms as yours. After reinstalling the gear it quit doing it.

 

When mine was put together it was one tooth off and it did smoke miss and loped when idling... put it back right and fixed the issue, but mine is a 1Lw

 

if not just turn up the xm radio a little louder when your going down the road.
