Early Jakes had six hold downs then went to five. Think each letter was improvements and they are backwards compatible.

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

Universal kit for 340 Jake, in retrospect, master pistons would not come out of their bores..front (5) poured oil out when the manual pin activated...leaking past the master piston, no doubt...

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Finally some resolution in this issue. Master piston stuck in 4 of the cylinders. Tried to get a machinist to remove them, no luck. Then I found an old hand at this here's the trick. Heat the housing to about 325 degrees. Drill a hole through the housing from the head end of the master piston. Drive the Piston out with a punch. While keeping the housing hot at 325,° put the correct size plug in the hole and then let it cool. Turns out they've been doing this for years. Obviously you'll want to replace the Pistons but at $18 a piece that's pretty cheap compared to replacing the housing. Waiting overnight for the Pistons to come in to reinstall them tomorrow hopefully to hear that wonderful sound we all call power braking
