3406e shutter missing

You can see in the pics you have a slight ring in the steel of the plunger body bout 1/2 in up from base of tip. That tells me your getting a good seating on those. There is a couple that look to clean for a better word. Like swaan said it only takes one to cause the problem.

I'm wondering if the injector cups are screwed up on a couple holes. Not letting the injectors seat proper ?

 

You and swan have gave me that straw to grab at!! I might even sleep tonight. It’s been two weeks of misery no sleep and stress.

 

Mine ? Found it in a hay field. Rebuilt it front to back. Ain't a bolt on it I haven't turned ! LOL

 

If it is a injector cup or seat problem Is this all caused by crappy cat parts? Or could it be something like high boost, or maybe mechanic error

 

I missed this. The little blue o-ring that slips over the tip. Were they completely gone ? Or did you remove them. Even though the eventually burn away. In the short time they have been in there they shouldn't be completely gone like in the pics.

 

I rebuilt my first truck, and it was a amazing truck. I had the idea of doing the same to this. That’s why I’m spending the money. Kinda restore it as I work it. But this truck is cursed. Some of the stuff that’s broke is just nuts. My first kenworth, and I stock cross member, and the trailing arm bushing. 8 air system is a little weird

 

Then I'm leaning toward seats. I have pulled injectors out after 100,000 miles and still have most of o-ring still intact.

 

I'd have all 6 seats cut. Believe it or not this is quite common around here.

We got a guy here at a local fuel shop that made his own cutter just for this. All the local shops hire him to do this job in house.
