Hey Ya’ll
So I have a 3406E Cat in a FLD120.
Recently got my engine rebuilt 2 months ago and it has started sputtering and smoking upon acceleration in the lower gears, if u park it and rev it to a certain rpm it will just stutter then go back to normal operation. It’s like a here and there type of thing it’ll act up then u can drive it for 2hrs without no issue.
Already replaced fuel filters/ check valves-cam sensor so far. Sounds like it’s either sucking air somewhere or it’s a wiring/injector issue.

I'd take it back to wherever rebuilt it. Could be as simple as an injector harness. Nobody can diagnose your issue from behind a keyboard.

I'll bet the cam gear is 1 tooth off.
Jordonh Thanks this. -
more than likely junk injector
