3406E vs C15

    I mess with a lot of these engines and historically the 40 pins do better on fuel, and if they have the early low inner lock files they feel peppier with good throttle response and will accelerate quicker from a light....however they tend to have more oil leaks.....but overall very good simple to work on engines...the c15s are a lot less likely to have oil leaks....tend to be touch rougher on fuel than 40 pin...but it's more driver and condition related...however when I run my 40 pin truck with the 70 pin doing the same thing the 40 is better on fuel...the 6nz's are the most overrated engines EVER! They are all good..but I see more 6nzs with liner and head gasket issues than the other prefixes...the Acerts are Great engines ..stroker crank and twin turbos from the factory....yes a lot give actuator/vva issues.... But most are million milers.....and once set up well....they will accelerate very well from light as well....due to the wide response range of the twins.....most of the times I've dynoed the 70 pins make more peak power than the 40s with similar hardware....I've heard there is more fuel in the 70 pin files....however a 670 hp acert will out accelerate a 860 hp 70 pin...and a 590 hp 40 pin is not far behind......to me dynos are good to see results of modifications and torque curves...but often result in short man syndrome displays....to me I may be on dyno one or two times a year.....I'm more concered with street performance than dyno bragging rights ....one day I'm going to put some acert twins on my 40 pin 1lw with a cam and probably only make 680 hp...but hurt a lot of feelings on the street....I think the response of the early 40 pin low nox files...the response of the larger cams and the response of the twins...along with the 40 pins lack of boost derate.....it will make a very nice daily driver....RW

    Pre dpf cat engines are better. I see million milers acert mxs. They can go farther. Not sure if my mbn survives before ECM flash.
