Why would anyone want to run less than 9 hours a day every day when they can make more money running 12 or more hours a day and have weekends off?

Perhaps not everyone wishes to live their life the way you do Rick. Ever consider that?

Yes , I did consider it. I just asked why they would want to.

    Some possibilities...

    1. A weekend at home invites spousal homicide.
    2. Can't stand the kids.
    3. Yard work drives you batty.
    4. Would rather drive than spend 34 hours at a truckstop.
    5. On the lam...

    mrbamcclain and truckon Thank this.

On number 4 where are they spending the 15.25 hours a day they are not working?
But it does sound like you are describing CDL mill graduates that are running away from obligations at home.

Really? How long have you been married? I know a bunch of people who get along much better if they are not around each other, yet the financial impact of a divorce would be catastrophic for both individuals. A number of them have been driving longer than you have.

I know a number of folks, decorated military types who prefer to be on the road. It helps them deal with PTSD.

How about people whose spouse has passed away, and prefer to live on the road.

As I posted earlier, not everyone is RickG, nor do they necessarily desire to live their lives the way you do.

    truckon and mrbamcclain Thank this.

You didn't answer my question where drivers spend their 15.25 hours off each of 7 days. That's 106.75 hours. A driver getting 70 hours in 5 days would spend 50 hours in a truckstop and then if they did a restart on the road another 34 to total 84 - less time than your drivers driving every day.

First, you can't log more than 70 hours on-duty in 8 days now.

Second, why would you even consider doing a restart if you're running off of your recap? Anyone trying to run anything close to 11 hours straight is a fool... the health consequences while not immediately noticeable are quite severe over time.
