I was just about to post the same thing.
I purchased a W900L 4 plus years ago and when i test drove it i couldn't believe how well it turned, after i made a deposit on the truck the salesman told me they always advise new purchases with the wider axle, from what i remember it is still a option.
378 vs 379

Yeah we had one truck that could not out turn an aircraft carrier.
40 acres and a pup trailer and you would only have to back up once to turn around. -
I am looking for a T800 but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I found a 378 that's close. -
Maybe keep what you have because you know it and put the wide axle under it. Flip side: if you can drive a truck blindidin with a 42" sleeper shouldn't be a problem. The beauty of a sleeper is storage space for things you might like to carry but don't have a place for.

I need a place to sleep so doubt I'll keep it. Putting a sleeper on? Well I don't think I have enough length and still have a headache rack.
And storage space.... If I have I'll fill it wether I need it... there's another subject.
When I bought this truck there was a T800 there as well same money. It was a little longer than my W9. I passed on it because I did not like the newer dash. Mine has the older 05 style. And I though being shorter wheel base it would turn better. Silly unlearnt me.bigguns Thanks this. -
900B with a 20K front end here, and it turns like crap. 242" WB with a 63" mid roof . Get accustomed to turning. Occasionally back up to get around corners or more maneuvering in tight places, where it wouldn't be a problem with a good turning truck. Have to live with it. Bought the truck used, tough to find the perfect truck, second hand? I like the truck and it is great specs for what I do.
As big guns says, having the extra space is great. Carry some tools, a change of clothes, rain suit etc and its not all crammed in the cab beside you. And the bed is there if I want to catch a nap or spend a night somewhere.
Good luck, whatever you decide! Getting a new truck is a lot like getting a new woman. You never know what you are getting until you get it/her home and have it/her for awhile?Last edited: Sep 11, 2016
Reason for edit: lil adjustmentbigguns, DL550CAT, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this. -
Someone I know posted on favebook last month or maybe 2 ago that his boss had replaced his steer axle with a 102" long one (likely the extended one mentioned here) really has me thinking about getting mine swapped out at some point. Couldn't hurt fer sure, other than the wallet :/

Salvage yard. Rebuild it. Good to go.
Ruthless Thanks this.
